“We just returned from the 3 day trail. Meeting the team in Calitzdorp we were transported through Seweekspoort to the start of the trail in Bosch Luys Kloof Reserve. We descended into Gamkaskloof using the original donkey path Die Leer/The ladder. Overnighted at Bosplaas. After wading across the Gamkas river we were met by Oom 'Red' Piet Joubert who regaled us with stories of the history of the valley and community over brunch. Second night we slept at Safari Camp. After a delicious breakfast made by Tannie Marionette we tackled the Elands Pass zigzagging our way out of Kloof to a celebratory brunch at the top. Finally transported back via ther Swartberg Pass to our cars. Incredible hospitality and generosity of spirit at every step of the journey.
